General Solutions to Fix HP 4500 Color Toner Cartridge Issues

HP Color LaserJet 2550 Cartridge and Drum Life Over

Any printer consumable, may it be cartridge, drum, fuser or anything, they have this we called life expectancy. It is a duration from which such product will turn obsolete once it meets its end of life. Well it is normal, any consumable item has an expiry date right? Albeit, printer supplies doesn’t expire they only turn used or empty once consumed.

Unfortunately, your printer may prompt a low level or empty error message earlier than expected. But you shouldn’t blame the unit itself because in fact you are the one who should know very well why it wasn’t able to reach its expected limit.

The HP Color LaserJet 2550’s imaging drum has an approximate usage life of 20,000 pages more or less. However it is still dependent on the print coverage of monochrome and colored prints from which the item has been used. The figure stated only applies when you are printing mainly black&white documents, no color parts at all. On the other hand, if you’re purely printing colored pages, the numbers will reduce to 5000 pages or even less.

Likewise with the HP 2550 set of toners, their page capacity depends on the type of document you will use it. Sometimes you will have to buy new stocks in a month or so, then the next time shorter than a month, it’s basically normal. There’s no fix schedule for it since it will depend on the amount of pages you print and the toners each page consumed.

Difference between Low-Life and Out-of-Supply

When the printer says one of the cartridges are running low of toner that actually means it will soon reach its end of life. Approximately, there’s about 20% of life left inside that cartridge, hence you can still get some more prints. Consider it a signal for you to rush to your retailer and get a replacement before it totally gets empty.

Now, if the machine prompted you with a cartridge out of supply notice, it is not just a warning, it is literally empty. Let’s say there’s 3-5 percent of toners left, maybe that’s enough for a single page, but don’t push your luck.

If the printer doesn’t get new replacements it will shut itself down. Just kidding, it will actually stop from printing instead. So to avoid delays, it would be ideal to stock some supplies that you can use anytime you needed. It’s a good thing that these consumables don’t expire, so take advantage of it.

Dealing with Clogged Printheads with Your Canon Ink Cartridges

Printhead clogging is a very usual problem that most printer users might experience when it comes to maintaining such devices. There are a few solutions that are generally suggested but not all of these may work fine with every brand and make. Hence it is best to find what exactly may fit for your printer model specifically, instead of trying a lot and wasting your time and effort.

Take note that either you use an original (OEM) or not, printhead clogging might still occur. Solving this dilemma is neither easy nor too tough you just need to have the right approach. A user should not only knowledgeable of using a printer, but also with maintaining it properly. Remember this, it’s easier to make the machine dirty than to clean it, likewise with damaging and repairing a unit.

If the printhead is clogged you just simply unclog it, but how is it properly done? 

Perhaps you are familiar opening your machine’s property window. If not well then just run the driver and find the properties tab from the top menu. From the maintenance tab, locate the printhead cleaning then perform or run it not more than three times. If you are not satisfied with the result, there’s another option which is referred to as Deep Cleaning. You may also run it but take note that it will consume much ink each time you perform this maintenance.

Another option you may consider is practical yet a kind of messy but works most of the time. What you need to do is remove the clogged ink cartridge from the printer and clean it manually. We've tried this once and it did work with a photo printer which uses Canon CLI-251XL ink. Since the unit was not used for quite a long time, the printhead became clogged and running the cleaning test can’t fix it. What we did was place the cartridge with the printhead facing down on a shallow plate with lukewarm water. Just for a short while until the ink comes out like its melting or somewhat blending with the water. Then wiped it with a clean cloth, place it back inside the printer and voila it worked.

Use a Printhead Cleaner

Additionally, there’s a specific cleaner which you can find from some printer retail shops. But since it’s not always available, the use of warm water will do in replace of it. As a final note, don’t forget to use your printer like for once a week or two to avoid getting clogged printheads.

Machine Error 32 On Brother MFC-9440 Series Printers

Machine Error 32 is also the same as Print Unable 32, actually it’s just the name that is modified but they’re basically pertaining to the same problem. Typically, it appears on the status LCD of a machine if there’s any paper or just anything that gets stuck in the printer’s drum unit. The four printer configurations included in the Brother MFC-9440 series uses black & color Brother DR110CL drum cartridges. These replaceable components are very sensitive that it can cause serious problems if they get damaged, and that includes the Machine Error 32.

- To start, turn the printer OFF first and unplug it from the power outlet.

- Open the front cover through the release button, and fold it down revealing the cartridges and imaging drum units. Pull out the cartridge slots and drum by holding the green handle. Gently lift the drum unit up to fully pull the whole component out.

- To pull it out of the printer, or rather remove it so you can check the inside of the machine, turn the gray lock at the left edge of the drum unit. Set it aside on a clean surface, or you can simply lay a piece of news paper to avoid toner spills.

- Now that you have removed the drums and cartridges, inspect inside the printer and check every corners, edges and sides for scraps of stuck papers.

- You also need to check the cartridges and imaging drum if in case the root cause of the problem is actually not from the printer but on the consumables instead.

- One by one, remove the toner cartridges and inspect them, as well as the drums. Once done, return the cartridges back to their slots, but before that it would be nice to clean them first for reassurance.

- Before you re-install the drum units back inside the printer, you could also inspect the belt unit of the machine. Scraps and pieces of sheets might also get stuck from it due to paper jams. Take note of the proper handling as you can only hold it through the green handle. Pull it out, and then check the top and bottom of the belt.

- Once you have fully inspected and clean the printer and its components return everything that you removed. Then close the front cover, just make sure it is properly lock because you will get another error if the front cover is not properly close.

Check if the Machine Error 32 has been fixed by turning the unit ON and running a test print.

What to Do with Print Quality Issues Related to HP 2600 Printer’s Cartridges?

The first thing you need to do is determine that the issue is certainly related to the printer’s consumables which are the HP 2600 laserjet toner cartridges. • A list should appear, and from there you have to select Reports through the arrows keys. Press OK to proceed on the next page.
• Again browse through the list and select Supplies Status Page, followed by pressing the OK button.

In less than a minute the machine should start printing a report page. These includes the remaining percent of toner in each cartridge, pages printed, date installed and last used, plus the serial number in case you need to buy new replacements.

Run a Maintenance Test Print or the Cleaning Mode feature to remove any excessive dirt such as dust, toners and paper pieces that accumulated inside the machine especially on its paper path.

To clean the printer, again hit the Setup button, select Services from the list, then select Cleaning Mode and press OK.

A prompt should appear in case the input tray is empty of paper sheets. Load some and clear the prompt by pressing OK once more.

While the unit is running the cleaning process, it will take a few minutes to be completed. Do not turn the unit OFF, just wait until a page comes out from the output tray indicating that the machine is done.
