Brother HL-3140CW is a digital
color laser printer that offers users with fast, reliable high-impact color
printing output ideal for small businesses and home offices. It produces “crisp black and high-impact color business
documents at up to 600 x 2400 dpi resolution using Brother's Digital LED print
technology.” It uses replacement color toners, Brother
TN221 toner cartridges that offers high printing page capacity of up to
2,500 pages for monochrome printouts while 1,400 pages for colored printouts.
It also has a separate drum unit cartridge as its printer consumables.

Steps in Replacing the Drum Unit of Your Brother HL-3140CW via Brother
Solutions
- Step 1 - Make sure that the Brother HL-3140CW is turned on.
- Step 2 - Open the top cover until it locks in the open position.
- Step 3 - Take out the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly for the color shown on the LCD.
- Step 4 - Push down the green lock lever and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit.
- Step 5 - Unpack the new drum unit.
- Step 6 - Put the toner cartridge firmly into the new drum unit until you hear it lock into place. If you install the cartridge correctly, the green lock lever on the drum unit will lift automatically.
- Step 7 - Clean the corona wire inside the drum unit by gently sliding the green tab from left to right and right to left several times.
- Step 8 - Repeat Step 3 and Step 7 to clean each of three remaining corona wires.
- Step 9 - Slide the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly into the machine. Make sure you match the toner cartridge color to the same color label on the machine.
- Step 10 - Close the top cover of the Brother HL-3140CW.
Once you have replaced the drum
unit with a new one, one must reset the drum counter by following these steps: (1)
Press the Up arrow key while holding down Go
on the machine's control panel, (2) then press the Up or Down arrow key to
display Drum Unit and press OK, (3)
Press the Up or Down arrow key to display the color of the drum unit that you
replaced then press OK and (4) press
the Up arrow key for Reset to reset the drum counter. After
these steps, you can now resume back to printing your documents.
