Most printer users do not pay much attention on the added details when buying a printer as long as it has all the features that you might need. But you must also think of the printing speed made by your printer since this will determine how fast you can make your works.
If you are using an inkjet printer equipped with the right ink cartridges, the speed is not really important since this type of printer acts the way the computer tells it to. If you want to stop what it is doing, you can quickly do so.
Unlike inkjet printers, the laser printers that are filled with laser toners are trickier on this part. When in the middle of printing and you decide to stop its function, you cannot because the laser printer needs to communicate with its “invisible processor” first before it can do that. So its makers placed a raster image processor or RIP with embedded printer language in laser printers to act the way you and your computer wants it to.
Since the laser printer has an “invisible processor”, how would you know the speed and performance of it? This is quite easy as long as you read the information about the printer before buying it. Check pages-per-minute details or PPM. The more pages it can make in a minute, obviously the faster the printer can finish your project.
Another tip to have better and fast printouts is to use compatible printer cartridges that suit your printer.
