I’m sure you have heard of the so-called “Bucket List” but have you seen the “Bucket Printer”?
The Bucket Printer is one of the latest buzzes in the printer industry. It is the latest photo printer model from Canon. The Canon CP790, the newest addition to the Canon Selphy family, looks exactly like a bucket (with cover).
What you see is not the actual printer device. You have to take out the plastic latches at the sides to get the Canon CP790 photo printer.
The CP790 weighs about 1.1 kilograms. It can be readily plugged to an electric wall socket. The 246.9 x 178 x 86.4-millimeter bucket serves as a case where you can put the power plugs, photo paper and other supplies and cables, making it easier for you to carry everything and take them wherever you go.
The Canon CP790 has a 3-inch color LCD and an easy-scroll wheel that allows you to navigate through the menus and controls. You can also use this wheel to view and select the images that you want to print. The menu and control settings also have other features like image enhancement, trimming, red-eye correction and other color effects so you can do some minor editing on the pictures you print them.
Apart from the big and easy to press buttons, the Canon CP790 is also very user-friendly. Both old people and young children won’t have a hard time operating it. You also do not have to attach your digital camera to print pictures. The Canon CP790 has a built-in memory card slot/reader that can accommodate SD miniSD, SDHC, MMC, CompactFlash, Memory Stick Pro and other types of external memory devices. Canon digital cameras can be connected using the PictBridge feature.
Based on print tests, a single 4 x 6-inch photo took about 56 seconds to print. The print quality is quite good but professional photographers may notice some elements lacking in the printout. Still, we can’t expect that much from a mid-range portable camera. Perhaps the best part about the Canon CP790 is you don’t have to wait for the ink to dry. It employs a dye-sublimation process that allows fine gradation for picture printouts.
If you buy the Canon CP790 now, its package includes 108 pieces of 4R photo paper and a spare ink cartridge. This lets you save USD 37.90. The whole package is priced at USD 249.
