I know there have been several warnings and testimonial blogs posted online on printer ink scams but it seems that there are some people who do not quit on the bad habits and there are also some who don’t seem to learn their lesson.
These printer ink scam offer people and small businesses overpriced toners and inks. All transactions are done through telemarketers. For example, a telemarketer will contact you to promote their ink and toner products. They tend to prey on small businesses and individuals. The telemarketer will tell you that their products are guaranteed to have more ink or toner, can print more and carry a popular brand name. In most cases, the telemarketer will not stop or drop the call unless he gets a verbal approval from you or from the employee of the small business. Sometimes, the telemarketer would even resolve to outright lies just to get some “forced sale”.
Soon enough, you or the company will realize that you have paid much more than what you normally spend on inks and toners. In fact, you may have paid for as much as four times more than the average prices of inks and toners. All you will get is a bill that does not have a valid phone number or address except for a P.O. Box address where you can send the payment.
If you don’t want to fall prey into this scam, do not entertain calls from alleged telemarketers. The best way to handle these calls is to ask the telemarketer for the legitimate company name and URL so you can check on the validity of their business as well as compare their prices to those of other brands or printer supplies companies. This also allows you the opportunity to get their phone number by telling them that you will just return their call if you are interested to purchase some stuffs from them.
As for small businesses, it is more advisable for them to adopt a standard procedure in which all purchases will be directed to a single-point person.
There is nothing wrong with purchasing compatible toners, just make sure that the store from which you are buying from is reliable like TonerBoss.
