- Step 1 - Lift the top cover of the printer. Caution: Make sure that the printer had been idle so the fuser is not hot.
- Step 2 - Pull down the front cover and transfer unit. Note: Do not place any item on the transfer unit while it is open. If the transfer unit is punctured, print quality problems could result.
- Step 3 - Remove the used print cartridge from the printer.
- Step 4 - Remove the new print cartridge from the bag. Place the used print cartridge in the bag for recycling.
- Step 5 - Align the print cartridge with the tracks inside the printer and insert the cartridge until it is completely seated.
- Step 6 - Close the front cover and then close the top cover. After a short while, the control panel should display Ready.
- Step 7 - Installation is complete. Place the used print cartridge in the box in which the new cartridge arrived. See the enclosed recycling guide for recycling instructions.
- Step 8 - If you are using a non-HP print cartridge, it is advisable to cold reset the printer.
By performing cold reset to your

non-genuine hp supply. This will also let your printer recognize the
alternative replacement cartridge you have used. To cold reset your HP Color

- Step 1 – Turn the printer off.
- Step 2 – Turn the printer on.
- Step 3 – When display shows rapidly changing numbers, hold Checkmark button. When all lights turn on, release button.
