How to Replace the Fuser and the Pickup Roller in HP 3700 Printer

The HP 3700 printer is a digital workgroup printing device designed to deliver high printing performance and excellent quality output to improve the productivity of any working environment. Unlike other digital laser printers though, the HP 3700 printer along with 3700dn, Color 3700dtn and Color 3700n printers have several printer consumables to use such as its HP 3700 toner cartridges (HP 311A toner cartridges): HP Q2681A cyan, HP Q2682A yellow, HP Q2683A magenta and HP Q2670A black laser toner cartridges, then there’s the fuser kit which needs to be replace once in a while to improve the print quality of your printer. An end user should also replace its pickup roller to avoid any printer problems or print quality issues.

And for today’s article, we will provide end users or HP 3700 printer users the steps on how they can maintain their printer’s quality through replacing the fuser and the pickup roller. Remember that is it necessary for these parts to be replaced once in a while for your printer not to deteriorate and for it to work properly. These procedures are from HP Solutions Center:

Replacing the Fuser
  1. Turn the printer off.
  2. Open the lower rear door (rear output bin).
  3. Slide out the lower rear door (rear output bin) tray extender.
  4. Lift and pull the lower rear door (rear output bin) while using a finger to press the tab with ridges on the left side of the door. Remove the lower rear door (rear output bin).
  5. Place thumbs on the blue ridges (near the warning label) and, using fingers, pull up on the blue latches.
  6. Pull the fuser out of the printer.
  7. Remove the new fuser from the bag.
  8. Hold the fuser with thumbs on the blue ridges and fingers on the blue latches. Push both sides of the fuser into the printer.
  9. Press the black ridges on the front of the fuser until the fuser clicks into place.
  10. Rotate the green levers to the up position.
  11. To reattach the lower rear door (rear output bin), hold the door at a 45ยบ angle, and fit the peg into the round hole on the right side.
  12. Press the ridges on the tab on the left side of the door, and fit the peg into the round hole.
  13. Close the lower rear door (rear output bin).
Replacing the Pickup Roller
  1. Remove Tray 2 and place it on a flat surface.
  2. Use one finger to push on the blue side of the pickup roller until the peg comes out of the right hole.
  3. Pull down gently on the pickup roller to remove the left peg of the pickup roller from the printer.
  4. Remove the new pickup roller from the bag.
  5. Hold the blue side of the pickup roller, and insert the left peg into the round hole in the printer.
  6. Push in on the pickup roller while lifting up on the right side of the pickup roller, so the pin goes into the hole and clicks into place.
  7. Rotate the blue side of the pickup roller until it clicks into place.
  8. Replace Tray 2.
  9. Turn the printer on. After a short time, the printer control panel might display the message NEW FUSER KIT.
  10. On the printer control panel, press DOWN ARROW to highlight YES, and then press SELECT to select it. The fuser count is reset and the printer is ready to use.
