Canon Color imageCLASS LBP7200CDN: Printer Review

Providing a typical speed and feature, the Canon Color imageCLASS LBP7200CDN is a non-MFP (single-function) color laser printer designed for small office and workgroup. What is it mainly capable of, aside from its highly noted network feature, is the machine’s capability to create colored prints like images and all other rich-color documents with such quality that stands out.

Design

By merely looking at the unit, anyone could describe its aesthetics as a plain white, box-shaped, with neat curves and edges. The Canon LBP7200CDN has a dimension of 13.1x16.2x19.3-inches (HWD), which if you analyze it, the unit is little too much to share a desk with. It even weighs around 55-lbs (pounds) which add to the reason why it couldn't just sit on a shared space.

Features

Canon Color imageCLASS LBP7200CDN: Printer Review
For a typical compact laser printer, its paper input capacity is considerable to support environments where it is mainly intended for such as SOHO and small workgroups. It has a 250-sheet input paper cassette at the near bottom, supplemented by a 50-sheet multi-purpose tray. Well if you noticed the letters CDN next to its model and if you’re familiar with such abbreviations you probably know that it features automatic duplexing for double-sided printing on both sides of a page. Additionally, since Canon might have thought you need extra capacity, there included among the optional upgrades is a 250-sheet secondary input tray.

Setup and Connections

Setting it up can be done quick and easy even by someone who is not quite familiar to network printers. You have two options to connect the printer, one is via the USB (cable comes with the package) or if you prefer sharing the unit over a network then it’s more appropriate to use the LAN Ethernet interface. Either way, the speed won’t change whether you use direct or network printing. It is fixed to print at a rated speed of 21 pages per minute.

Output and Accessories

Talking about the output, generally it can produce solid results when it comes to plain-text documents. While graphics and color documents on the other hand, shows qualities above par the most would expect from a laser printer. One factor to consider could be its main consumables particularly the Canon 118 color toner cartridges (CYMK). Just to set your expectations, minor issues are inevitable cases, so there’s no guarantee that you wouldn't experience such. Summing it up, the Canon Color imageCLASS LBP7200CDN laser printer offers average speed, above average print quality results, has duplex functionality, comes with network feature and is fairly price for what it can provide.
